Course OverviewGeneral English
This course caters to foreign learners, who wish to improve their English in all linguistic areas - listening, speaking, reading, writing - for general everyday use. The course caters to the full spectrum of EFL learner from beginner to advanced and is based on the New Headway English Course series. iBT TOEFL Preparation course
This is a highly specialised and intensive 12 week course, and is aimed at the foreign learner who intends to study at an English-medium college or university, like UCT. TOEFL is a standardised English proficiency examination and an entrance requirement for thousands of English-medium colleges and universities worldwide. Due to the intense, academic nature of the course, all TOEFL candidates will have to be at an upper-intermediate level of their English language learning. Language Improvement
This is a communication skills development course specially designed for the local market and primarily geared towards previously disadvantaged groups. The course aims to improve communication skills, with a strong emphasis on spoken and written communication. The course consists of 12 modules over 12 weeks with a total time commitment of 108 hours. The global spread of the English language, fuelled largely by growth in industry and commerce, has resulted in an ever-increasing need for qualified, native English-speaking teachers in non-English-speaking countries. This need has generated lucrative opportunities for anyone with a sense of adventure and a love for the English language to travel, earn and teach. TEFL or Teaching English as a Foreign Language is a course aimed at mother tongue or near-native speakers of English. The Knowledge Workshop TEFL course is an intensive 2-week / 50-hour course. Participants actively engage with course content through a series of workshops, and gain valuable insight into the major teaching methodologies informing the industry. Anyone older than 18, with a minimum of a matric certificate or equivalent, who is proficient in English, may qualify for the course. A brief, informative interview with the facilitator is a requirement. All registered candidates will receive guidance on work opportunities locally and abroad. Additional practical training (up to 50 hours) can be arranged. Course Fees
