Social Development: Work with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) and Non-Profit Organisations (NPO)

We have worked frequently in Cape Town’s sub-economic areas, providing English Language training to non-native English speakers.

One of the projects has been a Language Improvement programme for pre-school teachers from Mfuleni. We were approached by Southern Africa Sustainable Development Initiative (SASDI) – an NGO that is helping to provide training and skills to disadvantaged communities - to formulate and implement training for a group of isiXhosa speaking teachers, who want to improve their skills in English. The programme has been a great success, while being highly enjoyable for both students and teachers!

This is one example of the way we are looking to engage with communities for the greater good of the country. A program such as this is positively a win-win scenario. The participants have to make a small contribution towards the cost of training, so that they have ‘buy-in’ to help them realise the value of the training. However, the bulk of the costs are covered by international donors, sourced by SASDI which keeps the cost of the course affordable, while soliciting ‘buy-in’ from the participants. A further benefit is that the programme provides paid employment for local English language (TEFL) teachers, while exposing them to communities and cultures that they may previously have had little engagement with.

When working with NGO/NPOs we keep costs as low as possible, providing a free consultation followed by an initial assessment at a low, flat rate, regardless of the project. After the initial assessment, we design a program to address the needs that have been identified, while working closely with the commissioning organisation to ensure all goals are met.

Over the last few years we have helped a number of businesses and individuals with proof reading and editing of written material, from business proposals and post graduate theses to menus. We are meticulous and our rates our great!
